Mavro Employee Spotlight: Laura Hayduchok
Laura is not just any software engineer; she has been one of the many magicians behind Mavro’s implementations and software for the past eight years. From crafting intricate lines of code that power the MavBridge™ suite to diving into custom scripts and web services, Laura’s typical day is a whirlwind of software enhancements and bug-busting.
Most days, she has a handful of software enhancements in the queue from ongoing projects or customer requests. The development team works closely with the Application Engineers to ensure new features effectively meet customer needs while upholding best security practices.
For Laura, fixing software bugs is like finally scratching that annoying itch—peeling back layers of code and following threads of information until she finds the source. That “aha” moment is pure problem-solving bliss! It’s like conquering a puzzle, one line of code at a time.
Mavro Family: Where Tech Meets Trust
Describing the Mavro team as high-integrity, compassionate, and skillful, Laura emphasizes the importance of the company’s leadership. Everyone walks the walk—from executives to team leads—creating a workplace where trust and camaraderie thrive.
Exceeding Expectations: Mavro’s Winning Mantra
At Mavro, exceeding expectations isn’t just a slogan, it’s a way of life. Laura highlights the company’s genuine concern for employee well-being and happiness. More than just financial incentives, holiday gift baskets and annual retreats, the quality of employee investment is what sets Mavro apart.
It’s in the way a team member can ask a question and quickly receive offers to assist on a call, send a helpful link, or offer a brainstorming session—all with an earnest desire to help one another. It’s how managers base success on employees’ satisfaction as much as (if not more than) their productivity. When an emergency comes up, other “Mavericks” step in repeatedly, no questions asked.
Garden Grower & CrossFit Queen
Since Laura lives in Upstate New York, her hobbies vary with the seasons. During the summer, you’ll often find her outside in her vegetable garden or harvesting more than 20 pounds of red, white, and black raspberries and making them into homemade jam. Rounding out her homestead is a little flock of chickens (“the girls”) with incredibly big personalities for such small creatures!
A CrossFit Level 2 Trainer, Laura often heads to the gym early in the morning to work out or coach. She competes in the annual CrossFit Open—a worldwide online competition and first-round qualifier to the CrossFit Games. She loves the community aspect of CrossFit. (She encourages anyone interested in starting a new exercise routine or joining CrossFit to contact her with any questions!)
Last summer, Laura and her fiancé Jon ventured to Acadia National Park in Maine, where they got engaged amidst spectacular hikes and bioluminescent night kayaking. Their quest for the perfect lobster and blueberry pie continues, but the memories they made will last a lifetime.
Culinary Connoisseur, Dog Lover, Fiber Artist
Jon, a firefighter, isn’t just her partner in life; he’s also her cooking companion. They whip up delectable dishes like mushroom risotto and goat cheese cheesecake. With fresh produce from the garden and eggs from “the girls,” every meal is a celebration of love and local goodness.
Laura plays in a volleyball league and often takes advantage of the local “gorges” hikes with Jon and their two dogs, Callie and Tucker. Callie, a one-of-a-kind mix, was adopted from the Cayuga Dog Rescue and loves learning new tricks. Her little brother, Tucker, knows only one trick—fetch—which he will happily play all day, every day!
During the cold winter months, Laura is liable to resurrect her graveyard of abandoned knitting and crochet projects and start something completely new. This year, it was mittens. Next year, maybe it will be socks?!
Saving Lives, One Donation at a Time
Beyond her coding prowess and culinary adventures, Laura is a regular blood donor, having donated over four gallons (33 donations) to date. With a simple act of kindness every eight weeks, she’s making a difference and saving lives. As she advocates for blood donation, Laura invites everyone to join her in this noble cause.
Laura Hayduchok isn’t just a software engineer—she’s a coding maven, CrossFit queen, garden guru, and lifesaver, all wrapped into one vibrant personality. At Mavro, she’s not just a part of the team; she’s an integral part of our tech-savvy family.
