Mavro Employee Spotlight: Eric Wilson

From Floppy Disks to Fowling: Spotlight on Eric Wilson

If you’ve ever used one of Mavro’s core products – Keying Station, Image Studio, or X9 Analyzer Plus – chances are Eric Wilson had something to do with it. As Mavro’s Senior Software Engineer, Eric has been writing, refining, and reimagining code since before most of us knew what “debugging” meant.

Eric started at Mavro in 2008 as a part-time developer before going full-time in 2010, and since then, he’s become the go-to guy for just about everything behind the scenes. His days are a blend of developing new features, supporting installers, and tracking down elusive bugs that don’t stand a chance against his nearly 20 years of industry experience.

What keeps him passionate after all these years? The thrill of solving puzzles and creating something entirely new. “Software development is a great way to flex both the analytical and creative parts of your brain,” Eric says. “Being able to do that every day is why I got into it in the first place.” That balance of logic and imagination shines through in his work. It likely explains why so many of Mavro’s systems hum along so smoothly.

Ask Eric what makes Mavro special, and his answer comes instantly: the people. “From the CEO on down, everyone has the kind of positive attitude that makes coming to work every day a joy,” he says. After nearly two decades, Eric’s enthusiasm is still contagious. The company’s remote flexibility and team camaraderie are the icing on the cake (or perhaps, more appropriately, the clean compile after a long day’s coding).

When he’s not turning caffeine into code, Eric’s competitive streak takes over in his Pickleball and Fowling leagues (yes, that’s a mix of football and bowling… look it up, it’s as entertaining as it sounds!) At home, you’ll find him playing board and video games with his three kids, Riley (16), Lily (13), and Keira (9), and hanging out with his wife Sue and their two dogs, Luna the Dachshund and Alfredo the Husky mix.

Eric’s tech roots run deep, having taught himself to code at just age 15 using his grandfather’s lawn care invoice system written for the original IBM PC. (Two floppy drives, no hard drive, and probably a whole lot of patience.) Seasonally, however, Eric swaps his keyboard for ice skates in winter, taking his kids skating, and cheers on Detroit City Football in the summer.

From floppy disks to cloud systems, Eric’s journey proves that curiosity and a love for creating can take you a long way. Around here, we’re just glad that journey led him to Mavro.
